The library keeps your finished files in Mestra, so you can download them later from the web app. It is off by default. An owner turns it on in Organisation > Settings > Library, and chooses how long to keep files.
When it is on, the library stores each finished format’s exported files, a small thumbnail, the InDesign working file where there is one, and a link back to the source design. Files are saved by the Mestra apps, not uploaded by hand. A file can be up to 95 MB.
You can choose Don’t keep (the default), 30 days, 90 days or 365 days. Each file expires at the time it was saved plus the period in force. Expired files are deleted automatically, checked every hour.
Why it works this way
Section titled “Why it works this way”Some teams want their files to live only on their own machines. So the library is opt-in, and it is off until an owner decides otherwise.
Shortening the retention deletes older files straight away. Mestra asks an owner to confirm first, and says how many files will go.
Editors and owners can also delete files by hand, for a whole run or one format. That can’t be undone.
Encryption
Section titled “Encryption”Library files are encrypted by Mestra with a key unique to your organisation before they’re stored, so the storage service only ever holds encrypted data. Who can decrypt them, and why, is on Trust.
What happens when it’s full or off
Section titled “What happens when it’s full or off”Your organisation has a storage limit. When the library is full, new files aren’t saved, and the app shows “Library full”. A library problem never fails a build. The format is still built in your design app. It just isn’t kept in the library. Formats that weren’t kept show “Not kept” in the web app.
Canva’s Review & download zip works whether the library is full or off. Mestra holds that zip for 10 minutes, apart from the library. Each zip can be up to 95 MB. Across your organisation, Mestra holds up to 1 GiB of live zips. If downloads are busy, try again shortly.
Turning the library off also deletes the files it holds. Mestra asks an owner to confirm first.
Everyone in the organisation can see how much is used. Only owners change the setting.
How it fits with other parts of Mestra
Section titled “How it fits with other parts of Mestra”- Files come from runs. The web run page offers Download all when files are kept.
- The library is how export and hand-off works from the web.
